Frequently Asked Questions
dance photography...

What is your expertise in dance?
I have been around dance my whole life - as a dancer, choreographer and teacher. I know not only the proper technique and how to display it, but it is all a second nature to me. I am able to anticipate when a dancer is about to reach the peak of a particular movement and capture it at its best.

Do I have to be a particular level to get good photographs?
Absolutely not! I love working with all levels of dancer, ranging from the budding child ballerina to the professional dancer and everything in between. We will work together to create images that best display any dancers talent.

Do you only work with a certain style of dance?
While my personal expertise is with contemporary, ballet, modern and jazz, I love working with all styles and genres of dance.

Can you photograph my dance recital or competition?
Performance photography is a favorite of mine but it must come with permission from the director of the particular event. I would be happy to capture entire shows or events, but I cannot do so without explicit permission.

I am a studio owner, can you photograph my team?
Of course, I love working with large groups. Whether you are looking for just one large group picture or individual photos of each dancer I will work with you to create a package that fits what you are looking for.

Where would we photograph?
Depending on the style you are looking to portray with your images, we will pick one of the numerous locations in Western New York. I do not have an indoor studio, but work plenty both at indoor and outdoor locations. If it is a studio-wide project, I do have the ability to set up a faux studio at an extra cost.

How do we receive our images?
Your images will be delivered in both an online gallery to share with friends and family, and on a flash drive.

Can we keep the copyright to our images?
I retain the copyright to the images to use for promotion and publication, but a personal rights release is included with all packages. This enables you to print and use your photographs for personal reasons as you wish.

How does payment work?
A twenty percent, non-refundable, booking fee is required upon scheduling a date. From there, the balance is due by the day of your photo shoot. Payments can be made before that, but no photographs will be edited if that balance is not paid in full.

Are you insured?
Absolutely, I am fully insured with both liability and business insurance. A certificate of insurance can be provided upon request, but please give at least three weeks notice to ensure enough time for the paperwork to process.
