Ashmita and Alex – A Nepali/American Wedding at Avanti Mansion, Blasdell NY
If you have ever met Ash and Alex, you know how hard they laugh together. They have this way about them that is completely at peace and determined to enjoy all that life has to offer. From the moment we laughed our butts off on the couch at the studio, I knew this wedding would be fantastic. Oh boy, did it not disappoint.
We started the day at the beautiful community center in Alex’s parents’ neighborhood. The room was filled with excitement; every person there was over-the-moon thrilled for Ash and Alex. While Ash was putting the finishing touches on her look for the day with her magnificent details, there wasn’t a face in the room that was either not grinning or crying. She looked magnificent, and Alex agreed. His grin didn’t dim for a second from the moment he saw her on that beautiful beach.
That joy carried them through their portraits and down the aisle for their Nepali ceremony. If you need any proof for how in love these two are, just look at the way they looked at each other throughout both of their ceremonies. They were married in two ceremonies — one to honor each of their family traditions. The Nepali wedding ceremony had so much love woven and family woven through it (plus, their families decorated their lovely mandap), and Ash and Alex could not stop smiling.
After a dress change and a brief pause for some more portraits, we made our way into their civil ceremony at Avanti Mansion. Even the sun knew how special Ash and Alex are; it came out in full force for their vows. With words spoken by one of Ash’s mentors and the sweetest (second) first kiss, they danced their way into their beautiful reception.
Amid heartfelt toasts (yes we all cried), a sweet cake cutting, and some seriously killer dance moves, we celebrated the heck out of Ash and Alex. Their love is one for the ages, and their wedding day was just that — one they will always remember.
