Megan and David – Hidden Valley Animal Adventure Wedding Photography, Varysburg NY

There are not enough kind words for Megan and David, they just have that indefinable, spark that some people spend their entire lives looking for. Since the moment we sat down at Elm Street Bakery well over a year ago, I knew we would be a perfect fit. They deeply value authentic, moment-driven photography,  and their wedding was chock full of them.

We started the day at the gorgeous house Megan and David share, surrounded by more than 25 of their closest loved ones. There was such a wonderful energy about the house, everyone was so excited. There were so many thoughtful details sprinkled in their getting ready process. From a handkerchief passed down for generations and used by all of the women in Megan’s family, to garters showing each of their favorite movie characters, to tie clips that represent each groomsman.

After a blast of a morning, we made our way over to Hidden Valley Animal Adventure for their lakeside ceremony, where they were married in a heartfelt ceremony by  Megan’s dear uncle. Their crowd erupted into cheers with Megan and David after their first kiss, and that energy only grew as the night went on. Despite a power outage, the entire room was filled with hysterical laughter through 4 of the best speeches I have witness, and love during moving first dances.

From then on, the party did not die down for a second until the reception was over. It was my third time at a wedding with this group, and their parties are always ones for the ages. Jiggz Productions had the dance floor packed the entire night, including everything from classic rock to David’s signature N’SYNC.

Megan and David, Will and I are both truly grateful to have photographed your wedding day. Thank you for being such wonderful people, it was nothing but an honor to document your love. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Gaczewski!

  • On International Women’s Day, I wanted to take a second to honor the wild, brave, wonderful woman that raised me. I can’t even fathom who I would have been without her, she is a part of everything I am. She came from nothing and built a whole life and legacy in a brand new place. She was a fearless woman before it was considered acceptable to be one, and passed down the “overdeveloped of justice with a complete lack of self preservation” to every woman after her. She was a factory worker that wished she could have been an artist, and we spent whole days painting together in her front room talking about what a gift it was to be able to make art at all. While we were cleaning out her room after she passed, we found a folder full of clippings from every newspaper and magazine my photos had ever been published in, including sticky notes from the editors that she had called personally to get a copy. She was so proud that I got to live out her wildest dream, and she had only known the start of it when she passed. So on this day, and every day, may we push forward in honor of the badass women that came before us so the ones coming after can live out dreams we cannot even imagine. Maybe we can just avoid getting lifetime bans from two national sports leagues, teaching the grandkids how to win in a bar fight, and stealing everyone’s money cheating in cards. Those are things I’ll leave to my grandma. Befriending and feeding random wild animals like a Disney princess? That’s a dream I’m still trying to achieve.

I can’t even fathom who I would have been without her, she is a part of everything I am. She came from nothing and built a whole life and legacy in a brand new place. She was a fearless woman before it was considered acceptable to be one, and passed down the “overdeveloped of justice with a complete lack of self preservation” to every woman after her. She was a factory worker that wished she could have been an artist, and we spent whole days painting together in her front room talking about what a gift it was to be able to make art at all.
